Hello! So I have arrived in Munich today! the flight wasn't too bad no complications really and got here in good time, actully a little early. Nothing particularly special about the flight to report. Sat next to a nice woman going to germany to visit a friend so that was good. watched star trek again and its still a great movie! otherwise i just mainly slept as an attempt to fight off my jet lag which i have to say is working pretty well. its almost 7 here and im really not doing too bad although it probably will be an early night.

lets see once i got off the plane and got my luggage i met up with Julia Keilhofer from highschool and her and her parents took me into Munich for the day. Minus the pretty rapid changes in weather from sweating hot to cold and drizzly, it was good day. walked around and did little shopping (but i was a little tired for shopping), then had lunch at a brewery. It was soup which i think had liver in it but that really was pretty good, and meat and cucumber potato salad which really was just like mashed potatoes with cucumbers and both of those were really good too! then had my first german beer which i can't remember the name of but it was light beer with lemonade in it i think and it was very good. then we went and saw the large cathedral which was gorgeous and i think an english tour guide asked me to kiss him but i wasn't really paying enough attention to know what he was joking about lol. then we walked around a bit more and got some coffee at a little cafe and then got back in the car to go to Julia's home in Kempten. Took a little nap on the ride since it was a little over an hour which helped to wake me up a bit. Got here and their house and town is just sooo cute! if you have been to Aspen its lot like that only less comercialized and more real. after we dropped off our stuff at the house julia, her mom and i went to the store to get some groceries and came back. Her mom's making us dinner of salmon and rice tonight i think which sounds pretty good to me :) so gotta go for now but i'll check back in later. Auf Wiedersehen!!

First Steps

So this is my first blog post. I've never really done one before but figured a life changing trip to Europe would be a good time to start.

I just moved back home today from my first apartment in Lawrence and its absolutely blowing my mind that I'm so close to leaving! The first time I heard about this study abroad program and decided that I wanted to do it was probably summer 2007. Its 2 years later and I'm actually getting ready to leave! I have no idea how the time has passed so quickly. But I can't wait to get there and get started!!!!!

So the first part of my trip is Germany which is probably what I'm most anxious for at the moment since its a lot of traveling, probably by myself, in just a month. But I also get to see many friends that I haven't seen in years! And I know that it will be soooo much fun. :D

Then I have to get to Florence on Sept 10 to start my program. Which right now feels like forever away but I know that it will be here before I know it! I'm so excited to be in Florence. When I went to Europe with my family a couple years ago it was probably my favorite city (I think tied with Paris though which is why this program is perfect!). The idea of living there for a while and getting a chance to really know the city like a local is going to just be amazing!

At the end of October we have a 10 day break which hopefully means Greece but who knows what will end up happening cause its Europe and you never know!! But Greece is somewhere I've never been and am definitely dying to go (not just to find myself a hot greek man ;). It just looks so beautiful and picturesque, not to mention how much history and culture are there.

And then off to Paris for the rest of the semester!! Again the main thing that is just exciting me the most is the opportunity to live in Paris and get to be local. I can't wait to do everything and I know that it'll pass me by so fast that I want to try and take it slow and savor it all as much as possible and take a second for granted.

So right now i'm just trying to get everything together in the next 10 days so I'm all set to have an amazing time(which i know i will)!

Hopefully I'll be able to update this often and keep everyone posted on all my fantastic adventures to come :)
